Moscow Export and Investment Promotion Agency

Moscow Export and Investment Promotion Agency (MIEPA) dates back to 2006 when it was established by the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry as part of the MEXI (Moscow Export Initiative) system under a joint project implemented by the Moscow City Government and the UN Development Programme (PROUN) titled “Support to Development and Implementation of Moscow-based System for Export and Investment Promotion “Moscow Export Initiative (MEXI)”. 


MIEPA activities have been approved at the meetings of the Industrial Policy Combined Board under the Moscow City Science and Industrial Policy Department. 


MIEPA is developing into the centre of information, methodological, analytical and consultancy support for the Moscow City Government and Moscow-based research and industrial organizations in the area of foreign trade and investment activities. 


The Agency provides information and consultancy services to Moscow-based and foreign enterprises in addressing the issues of foreign trade and investment activities. 


In the second half of 2007 the Agency launched Moscow’s Investment Gateway interactive information system (MIG IS) — http://moscow.investway.info. 




MIG IS facilities provide for the: 


    
    
  • dissemination of information on  investment opportunities afforded by Moscow-based enterprises (using the format and authority of UNCTAD, a specialized UN investment international organization);  
    • 
    
  • rendering of assistance to foreign investors in their interaction with Moscow-based enterprises and state authorities regulating the investment process in Moscow.  
    • 



MIEPA has set up the International Trade Information Service (ITIC) within its organization to assist its activities in providing support to the development of Moscow-based enterprises’ export potential, which can be accessed via the Foreign Trade Information Portal (www.moscowtradeinvest.ru). The Service was developed in cooperation with UN international organizations including International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO and UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) which provided an additional access to these organizations’ information resources. 


ITIC facilities provide for the: 


    
    
  • dissemination of information on  investment opportunities afforded by Moscow-based enterprises (using the format and authority of ITC, a specialized UN trade development international organization);  
    • 
    
  • rendering of information services to Moscow-based enterprises to meet their needs for stepping up of  their export potential;  
    • 
    
  • rendering of assistance to foreign partners committed to cooperation with Moscow-based enterprises and the development of Moscow’s scientific and industrial complex.    
    • 



MIEPA conducts specialized training workshops for professionals and executives covering the areas of foreign trade, taxation, exhibition and advertising issues in cooperation with the RF Federal Customs Service assisted by the Moscow City Foreign Economic and International Relations Department.
